After many years working professionally with food ... creating menus, managing kitchens, catering for private, corporate and sports events ... I had two delightful little witchets of my own. Both have turned out to be enthusiastic kitchen assistants and the delight on their faces when cooking was one of the inspirations for the Witchet gift bags. Finding gifts for kids is a challenge at the best of times. Finding gifts that are creative and interactive, durable, fun to use and reasonably priced is even harder. So we decided to make our own!
The Witchet Gift-Bag range was created to encourage young people of all ages to get into the kitchen and to teach them about cooking. Inside our charming hand-made fabric bags are recipes tailored for children, and fun utensils that encourage them to cook. The bags are not just for looks ... they’re to store all the contents safely, ready for the next cooking adventure! I’ve designed every recipe so it’s easy to read, easy to make and (almost) foolproof. There’s nothing worse than disastrous kitchen efforts so all the recipes have been thoroughly tested by children as well as adults ... we’ve even provided guides to ensure no cookie can be rolled too thin and risk burning! Witchet Cookie-Cutters are polyresin colour-coated (making them dishwasher safe), our Pizza Pans are professional kitchen quality, made for us in New Zealand, as are our Rolling Pins, made from beautiful re-cycled New Zealand Kauri. The gift bags are small and light (easy to post) and everything inside can be used over-and-over again. I’d love to hear what you think. When
you get a chance, drop me a line and tell me what works and what doesn’t,
what your kids think about the gift bags and about cooking, or your childhood
experience as the Witchet growing up!
